My experience was very good. The doctors and staff are very competent and friendly. I had my ICL procedure here yesterday, and today I can already see very well. The first day after the procedure was a bit challenging, as my eyes still had to get used to it.

The doctor as well as the entire team are very friendly and answer questions in a professional and competent way.

About a month ago, I decided to undergo RLA, and I am very satisfied. From the very first examination, I felt that I was advised in a very competent and pleasant manner. The procedure also went exactly as planned, and I felt well taken care of throughout. I am very happy with the result as well. Many thanks to the entire team.

I had my eyes operated on by Dr. Toam Katz and couldn’t be happier with the result. From the very first consultation, he inspired great confidence and explained every detail of the procedure clearly and patiently. The surgery was quick and painless, and the follow-up care was excellent. Today, I enjoy perfect vision thanks to his professionalism and dedication. I can definitely recommend it.

Questions and answers

Frequently asked questions

  • How does a laser eye or lens treatment at EuroEyes in St. Gallen work?

Your journey to a better quality of life begins at our eye clinic in the heart of St. Gallen, just five minutes on foot from the railway station. During an initial eye check, our experienced ophthalmologists and medical specialists carry out a comprehensive examination of your eyes. We assess whether any eye conditions are present and which of our treatments – such as SMILE Pro or Femto-LASIK – offers the greatest benefit for your individual vision. We also determine whether laser eye surgery is suitable for you or whether lens implantation or lens replacement would be the ideal solution to help you live without glasses or contact lenses.

The laser procedures are performed on site using the latest technology. Thanks to the highest level of precision, procedures at EuroEyes Switzerland are usually quick and painless. Our St. Gallen team supports you every step of the way – from the initial analysis and the treatment itself to the follow-up care.

  • Why choose EuroEyes for my laser eye or lens treatment?

For over 30 years, EuroEyes has stood for the highest level of medical expertise and operates renowned eye clinics in London, Copenhagen, Berlin, Frankfurt, Munich, Hamburg, Hong Kong and Shanghai. EuroEyes is one of the world’s leading providers of refractive laser eye surgery and in the treatment of presbyopia (age-related farsightedness).

Medical responsibility at EuroEyes lies with two internationally recognised experts: Dr Jørn Jørgensen and Professor Dan Reinstein. Both are among the most experienced specialists in refractive surgery and have played a significant role in shaping its development.

  • Can laser eye surgery cause blindness?

No, blindness as a result of laser eye surgery is extremely unlikely. One of the reasons for this is that the laser works exclusively on the outermost layer of the eye – the cornea. Structures such as the optic nerve remain completely untouched during the procedure.

In addition, modern safety systems such as the so-called eye tracker ensure that the laser follows even the smallest eye movements.

As with any medical procedure, complications such as infections can occur in very rare cases. However, these are treatable and occur only extremely rarely.

  • Is laser eye surgery or lens treatment painful?

Before laser eye surgery or a lens treatment, your eyes are numbed with special eye drops so that you do not feel any pain during the procedure. EuroEyes mainly performs the most advanced laser methods such as SMILE Pro or PRESBYOND, where the healing process is usually painless.

  • Which laser eye method is suitable for me?

Which laser eye method is suitable for you depends on several factors and will be determined during an individual consultation at a EuroEyes clinic near you. Important criteria for selecting the appropriate method include your age and your prescription. At EuroEyes, we offer only the most modern and safest laser procedures, including SMILE Pro, Femto-LASIK and PRESBYOND.

  • What alternatives to laser eye surgery does EuroEyes offer?

EuroEyes offers the full spectrum of refractive surgery. In addition to various laser procedures, our clinics also provide lens implantation and lens replacement. These methods are excellent alternatives if laser eye surgery is not suitable for you—for example due to a very thin cornea, high refractive errors or presbyopia.

  • How does laser eye surgery work?

During laser eye surgery, the cornea of your eye is gently reshaped using state-of-the-art laser technology so that light rays are once again precisely focused on the retina. Depending on the chosen laser correction method—such as SMILE Pro or Femto-LASIK—the laser corrects your individual refractive error in just a few seconds.

With the Femto-LASIK method, an ultra-thin flap is created in the upper layer of the cornea using a femtosecond laser and gently lifted so that the underlying tissue can be reshaped with an excimer laser. With SMILE Pro, the correction is performed through a minimal side incision, through which a tiny disc of corneal tissue—called a lenticule—is removed.

The entire procedure is painless because your eye is numbed beforehand with special eye drops. Thanks to highly precise safety systems, the corneal tissue is corrected with micrometre accuracy without affecting surrounding structures.

  • Can I stop wearing glasses or contact lenses after the treatment?

Most patients can stop wearing glasses or contact lenses after laser eye surgery or lens treatment. If a small residual refractive error remains after the procedure, it can usually be corrected with a second treatment, allowing you to live permanently without visual aids.
