How does Trans-PRK work?

Trans-PRK corrects your vision without contact and without cutting. The outermost layer of the cornea is removed using a laser and regenerates within a few days.

Pre-examination
A comprehensive eye examination determines all relevant parameters to tailor the treatment to your needs.
Step 2
Préparation
On the day of treatment, your eyes are numbed with special drops. The procedure is painless, and you remain awake and relaxed.
Step 3
Treatment
A precise excimer laser removes the epithelium (outer corneal layer) and corrects the refractive error. The procedure takes only a few minutes per eye.
Step 4
Healing
A therapeutic contact lens is applied as protection until the epithelium regenerates (approx. 3–5 days). Vision stabilizes gradually.

Is Trans-PRK treatment painful?
During the laser procedure itself, you will not feel any pain thanks to numbing eye drops. However, since the outermost layer of the cornea is removed, some discomfort or pain may occur in the first few days after treatment. Our team will support you throughout the healing process and ensure optimal aftercare.
How long is the healing process after Trans-PRK?
The outermost corneal layer (epithelium) regenerates under a protective contact lens within approximately 3 to 5 days. Please note that it may take about two to three months to achieve the final, sharp visual result.
What are alternatives to Trans-PRK?
The most suitable procedure depends on your individual corneal structure and refractive error. If Trans-PRK is not the optimal choice, we offer proven alternatives such as Femto-LASIK, SMILE Pro, and lens implantation. For presbyopia, PRESBYOND or trifocal lenses may be suitable options.
How much does Trans-PRK cost?
