Quite simple

Your treatment in four steps

Your lens or laser eye treatment at EuroEyes Geneva takes place in four simple steps.

1. Eye check

In an initial eye check, we determine whether a laser eye or lens treatment is suitable for you. We examine key factors such as your visual acuity, the shape and thickness of your cornea, and your current visual aid. This appointment is non-binding and free of charge.

2. Main examination

During the approximately one-hour main examination, we gather additional measurements to select the ideal treatment method – such as SMILE Pro or Femto-LASIK. The goal is a precise, individually tailored treatment.

3. Treatment

The correction itself – whether with a laser or with a lens – takes only a few minutes per eye. Local anaesthesia with eye drops ensures that the procedure is painless for you. To provide you with the best care, we recommend setting aside sufficient time for this appointment.

4. Follow-up examination

Shortly after the procedure – usually the next day or within a few days – the first follow-up takes place. Here we check whether your eyes are recovering as expected and whether the healing process is progressing well.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Here you will find the most important questions and answers about laser eye and lens treatments at EuroEyes.
If you have further questions or need additional information, please feel free to contact us.

Why choose EuroEyes for my laser eye or lens treatment?

For over 30 years, EuroEyes has stood for the highest medical expertise and operates renowned eye clinics in London, Copenhagen, Berlin, Frankfurt, Munich, Hamburg, Hong Kong and Shanghai. EuroEyes is among the world’s leading providers in refractive laser eye surgery, the treatment of presbyopia, as well as modern procedures for cataract correction. Medical responsibility at EuroEyes lies with two internationally recognised experts: Dr. Jørn Jørgensen and Professor Dan Reinstein. Both are among the most experienced specialists in refractive surgery and have played a key role in its development.

Is a laser eye or lens treatment painful?

Before a laser eye or lens treatment, your eyes are numbed with special eye drops so that you do not feel any pain during the procedure. EuroEyes primarily uses the most advanced laser methods such as SMILE Pro or PRESBYOND, where the healing process is usually painless.

Can laser eye treatment cause blindness?

No, blindness from laser eye treatment is extremely unlikely. This is mainly because the laser works exclusively on the outermost layer of the eye – the cornea. Structures such as the optic nerve remain completely unaffected by the procedure.

In addition, modern safety systems such as the so-called eye tracker ensure that the laser follows even the smallest eye movements.

As with any medical procedure, complications such as infections can occur in very rare cases – however, these are treatable and occur only extremely rarely.

Can I do without glasses or contact lenses after the treatment?

Most patients are able to do without glasses or contact lenses after a laser eye or lens treatment. If a residual refractive error remains after the procedure, it can usually be corrected with a second treatment.

Which laser eye method is suitable for me?

Which laser eye method is suitable for you depends on various factors and is determined during an individual consultation at a EuroEyes location near you. Key criteria for choosing the right method include your age and your visual acuity.

Which age group is suitable for laser eye treatment?

In principle, around 98% of people between the ages of 18 and 45 are suitable for laser eye treatment. For those over 45, laser correction may still be possible in certain cases. However, from this age, lens exchange is usually the preferred option. We also offer this. Which treatment method is actually suitable for you will be clarified and discussed in detail during our free and non-binding examinations.
