Timeline of your PRESBYOND treatment
We guide you step by step through the timeline of your PRESBYOND laser eye treatment so you know exactly what to expect. From the initial pre-examination to the final follow-up – here you will find all the important information to be well prepared and feel confident.
Pre-examination and main examination
After the free and non-binding pre-examination, you will come in a second time for the main examination. Please note that you must refrain from wearing contact lenses for at least four days before the appointment. In addition, you will receive eye drops during the examinations that may impair your vision for a few hours – therefore you must not actively participate in road traffic. We recommend using public transport to get to the main examination. During the examinations, not only your visual acuity but also the cornea and retina are checked in detail to determine the treatment method best suited for you.
Procedure and treatment process
At the third appointment, the PRESBYOND treatment takes place. The process is similar to a classic laser eye treatment with Femto-LASIK. After your eyes are numbed with eye drops, a so-called flap is created in the top layer of the cornea and folded to the side. The refractive error is then corrected with the laser underneath. In the PRESBYOND procedure, the dominant eye is corrected for distance vision, while the other is adjusted for near vision. The flap is then folded back and serves as the eye’s natural protective lens. The appointment takes about one hour.
Possible symptoms
Immediately after the treatment, you may experience increased light sensitivity, red eyes and a foreign-body sensation in the first few hours. Other possible symptoms include hazy vision, watery, dry, burning or swollen eyes, as well as temporarily fluctuating vision. It is recommended to wear sunglasses as protection against glare and foreign bodies.
First follow-up
The first follow-up takes place the following day. This is the first time your new vision without visual aids is checked. Usually, the confirmation for the road traffic authority can also be issued at this point. In principle, you can then return to your normal daily activities.
Second follow-up
Your second follow-up takes place after one week. With PRESBYOND, you often have already achieved full visual performance by this point and usually no longer experience any major side effects. It is important to continue following the recommended hygiene measures and to use the eye drops according to the prescribed schedule.
Back to everyday life
Sports, swimming and sauna are allowed again, as well as wearing make-up and creams around the eyes. If you have any questions or concerns, you can contact us at any time.
Final follow-up
After about two months, a final follow-up takes place to check your visual performance and to ensure the eye’s optimal long-term healing process.

What is PRESBYOND?
PRESBYOND is a laser eye procedure (Laser Blended Vision) developed by Zeiss. It combines laser eye surgery with monovision and thus provides a way to improve presbyopia. The Femto-LASIK method is used, with one eye corrected for distance vision and the other for near vision.
What are the advantages of PRESBYOND?
PRESBYOND offers people with presbyopia the option of laser treatment. The procedure is individually tailored, has a short recovery time and high patient satisfaction. Afterwards, you are no longer dependent on visual aids such as contact lenses or glasses.
PRESBYOND or refractive lens exchange?
PRESBYOND and refractive lens exchange are both options for correcting presbyopia. While PRESBYOND is a laser eye treatment that corrects the cornea, refractive lens exchange replaces the natural lens of the eye with an artificial lens.
How long does PRESBYOND last?
PRESBYOND improves presbyopia and lasts between two and five years. Due to changes in refractive errors, the natural ageing process of the eyes or additional conditions such as cataracts, another treatment may still be necessary to restore vision.
When is PRESBYOND not possible?
A PRESBYOND treatment may be excluded under the following circumstances: medical contraindications, corneal diseases, eye conditions such as cataract or glaucoma, extremely high refractive errors, or unstable vision.
How much does PRESBYOND cost?
A PRESBYOND treatment at EuroEyes costs CHF 3,290 per eye. The treatment can be paid in individual monthly instalments. PRESBYOND is an alternative to refractive lens exchange and, in addition to correcting astigmatism, myopia and hyperopia, also improves presbyopia.
How long does recovery take after PRESBYOND?
The treatment is characterised by a short recovery period. As with any medical procedure, blurred vision, burning or dry eyes, a foreign-body sensation and increased light sensitivity may occur in the first few hours. Our team will inform you about this in detail.
At which locations is PRESBYOND offered?
PRESBYOND is currently offered by EuroEyes only in Zurich.
